We’re just getting started on our mission to transform the world of data.
In the last few years, we’ve come a long way. We grew by leaps and bounds in 2015. But there’s a lot left to do.
Here are some of the things we have planned for 2016:
Our biggest priority is improving our data coverage. We plan to expand the quantity of data on Quandl substantially. We also plan to improve the quality: better, more accurate free data, and reliable, pedigreed premium data from blue-chip vendors. If there’s any particular data you’d like to see on Quandl, please let us know.
New Data Types
We also plan to expand the variety of data available on Quandl: non-time-series data and intraday data are both on our development roadmap. Finally, we aim to add a substantial amount of rare or unique data to the platform.
On all these fronts – quantity, quality, variety and uniqueness – you can expect large improvements to Quandl data in 2016.
Better Data Delivery
Data is worthless unless it’s easy to consume. So we’ll continue to innovate around making our data delivery experience simple, reliable, frictionless and fast. Too often, wrangling data is a chore. It doesn’t need to be. We want data consumption via Quandl to be absolutely delightful, and will never stop striving to hit that goal.
Thus far, we’ve been shy about marketing Quandl actively. That will change in 2016. We hope to increase our visibility and reach. The beauty of marketplace business models is, the more participants (buyers and sellers) we attract, the better the platform is for everyone. So we’d like to enlist your support in this endeavour: if you can spread the word about Quandl, that would be much appreciated!
On a related note, we also plan to reboot the Quandl blog (what you’re reading right now). We want to make it required reading for data analysts: a mix of interesting and useful articles about data workflows, the industry, and specific domains. If you’d like to be notified of all new posts on the blog, please do sign up for a Quandl account.
These are just a few of the initiatives we have planned for the year ahead. There are plenty more in the pipeline. 2016 is going to be a big year for Quandl, and we’re excited about what the future holds. Here’s to a better world of data!
